16 Universities From Six CIS Countries Took Part in Discussion on Youth Legal Education and Participation of Young People in Elections

On 15 September 2022, Herzen State Pedagogical University in St. Petersburg hosted a roundtable “Participation in Elections as a Factor of Legal Education of Young People.”

The discussion was attended by experts, academia and students from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia and Tajikistan and discussed ways to overcome youth absenteeism, forms of work with young voters, international educational cooperation, the influence of digital media on the participation of young citizens in electoral processes and other issues.

The event was co-organized by the International Institute for Monitoring the Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS IIMDD) and Herzen University. IPA CIS Council Secretary General Dmitriy Kobitskiy sent greetings to roundtable participants and congratulated them on the International Day of Democracy, noting that legal education is a necessary condition for the stable democratic development.
