International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS IIMDD)
Establishment: the International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS IIMDD) is one of the main features of the IPA CIS. It was established by the decision of the IPA CIS Council of 10 February 2006.
Mandate: monitor elections in the Nations of the Commonwealth and beyond, draft recommendations on the results of monitoring, train international observers. In February 2007, the Institute convened its first seminar on training international observers to monitor elections of national institutions.
Offices: on 28 March 2007, came the signature of the first Agreement on the establishment of the first Office of the Institute in Baku, the Azerbaijan Republic. Similar offices have been opened in Bishkek, Cisinau, Yerevan and Kiyev.
Monitoring missions: in 1994 – 2013, the IPA CIS sent 90 teams of international observers and held 9 dedicated conferences. Today, the IPA CIS IIMDD is an established international institution monitoring elections in the CIS.
