IPA CIS International Observers Held a Number of Meetings Within Long-Term Monitoring of Presidential Elections in Tajikistan

The members of the IPA CIS Observer Team from among the staff members and experts of the International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS IIMDD) started monitoring of the electoral campaign for the presidential elections in the Republic of Tajikistan. The long-term monitoring is performed by Head of the Election Monitoring Department of the IPA CIS IIMDD Yulia Anisimova and IPA CIS IIMDD expert Stanislav Tkachenko.

On 21 September, the IPA CIS international observers met with presidential candidates: Leader of the Socialist Party of Tajikistan Abduhalim Ghafforov, Leader of the Agrarian Party of Tajikistan Rustam Latifzoda and Leader of the Party of Economic Reforms of Tajikistan Rustam Rahmatzoda.

All candidates noted the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the electoral campaign and stressed that the campaigning was carried out in accordance with the sanitary and epidemiological rules and using the personal protective equipment.

The observers also met with Chair of the Committee of the Majlisi namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan on International Affairs, Public Associations and Information Saidmurod Fattohzoda and members of the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda of the Republic of Tajikistan Mahfirat Hihirzoda and Navruz Samadzoda.
