IPA CIS Observers Complete Monitoring of Elections to National Assembly of ATO Gagauzia

On the election day in the ATO Gagauzia on 19 September 2021, the IPA CIS observers accredited by the Central Election Commissions of the Republic of Moldova and Gagauzia monitored all stages of the voting.

During the day, the observers attended 17 out of 66 polling stations in Comrat and Ceadîr-Lunga, as well as the Comrat and Ceadîr-Lunga regions.

Candidates’ proxies and observers from public associations were present at all the visited polling stations. Many polling stations, according to the IPA CIS observers and the information provided by the chairs electoral bureaus, were visited by international observers, which contributed to transparency of the voting process.

During the monitoring on the election day, the observers recorded minor technical deficiencies that were not of a systemic nature and did not affect the freedom of expression of the voters’ will.

At the end of the voting, in accordance with the legislation, the CEC of the ATO Gagauzia reported that the turnout of voters around was 40.6%, which allows the elections to be considered valid.
