IPA CIS Observers Held a Meeting with TURKPA Delegation at Referendum in Kazakhstan

Observers from the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic Speaking Countries discussed the preparation and organization of the constitutional referendum in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy noted in his speech that many IPA CIS Member Nations are also members of the TURKPA, and expressed hope that conclusions on the referendum made by both organizations would be similar. In addition, he told about the preparations for the conference on the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the CIS Convention on Standards of Democratic Elections and invited the TURKPA delegation to attend the event.

Head of the TURKPA mission Recep Şeker thanked the IPA CIS Council Secretary General and noted the common goals of both organizations.

The participants agreed on the importance of strengthening parliamentary cooperation between the two organizations.
