Vagharshak Hakobyan Appointed IPA CIS Observer Teams Coordinator for Parliamentary Elections in Kazakhstan

Deputy Chair of Standing Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on Regional and Eurasian Integration Vagharshak Hakobyan was appointed IPA CIS Observer Team Coordinator at the parliamentary elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan by the decree of Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko.

Currently, an Observer Team is formed from among the representatives of the IPA CIS parliamentarians, the IPA CIS Council Secretariat staff members and experts of the IPA CIS IIMDD.

Elections to the Mazhilis will be held in Kazakhstan on 19 March. The IPA CIS observers monitor the electoral campaign at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tleuberdi. During the long-term monitoring, a group of experts of the IPA CIS IIMDD drafts a conclusion on the compliance of national legislation with international standards and commitments of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the electoral sphere, observers hold meetings with representatives of parties participating in the election campaign.

On the voting day, the IPA CIS international observers will work both in Kazakhstan and at foreign polling stations in the Commonwealth countries and other states. About 50 IPA CIS observers will take part in the monitoring.
