Youth Initiative in Elections to Be Discussed by Participants of Electoral School in Kyrgyzstan

From 22 to 27 June 2024, the Youth Electoral School (YES) will be held in Kyrgyzstan on the theme “Youth and Elections: Initiative, Responsibility, Security.”

The organizers are the International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS IIMDD), the Bishkek branch of the IPA CIS IIMDD and the Kyrgyz National University named after J. Balasagyn.

Participants of the electoral school will include students, postgraduates, and teachers from partner universities of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat from Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, as well as experts and employees of the Baku and Yerevan branches of the institute.

The school will feature professors and associate professors from partner universities of the Assembly, representatives of election administration bodies of the Kyrgyz Republic, and experts from the IPA CIS IIMDD.

The events of the YES are aimed at forming basic theoretical knowledge and professional competencies in the field of electoral process and election and referendum observation among students. The goal of the school is to increase the legal and political culture of young voters, foster citizenship and patriotism, and engage the younger generation in the development of integration processes in the CIS space.

The electoral school will also host master classes, business games, and practical sessions. A meeting of the International Youth Discussion Club “Tavricheskiy” on the theme “Youth and Elections: Initiative, Responsibility, Security” will be held.
