IPA CIS international observers meet with the voters

IPA CIS international observers witnessed the opening of polling stations, sealing of ballot boxes. They also took time to meet with the voters and local election observers and local elecom officers. IPA CIS observation team leader Andrey Naumovich briefing the media said that no violations were registered. Polling stations opened in due course. Elections are proceeding smoothly. IPA CIS Secretary General Alexey Sergeev said that prior to the elections, observers met with the representatives of political parties and senior election officials. There are all grounds to make a statement that elections are proceeding smoothly and in conformity with the national election law. As for election law, our experts appreciate it as comprehensive and as conforming to the international standards. Today, as we witness the opening of this polling station and inspecting its state of readiness, we have every reason to say that we are effectively satisfied with what we see. We also plan to witness the counting of ballots as the day draws to its end. We expect that by that time we will have all due materials at hand for a statement of findings that we will make tomorrow morning at the press-conference.
