IPA CIS observers continue work in Chisinau

Within the framework of the visit to the Republic of Moldova, the IPA CIS observers attended the campaign headquarters of the Socialist Party, where they learned about new mechanisms of campaigning activities by the candidates.
According to Chairperson of the Socialist Party of the Republic of Moldova Zinaida Greceanii, to attract electorate the campaign headquarters are actively using social networks. Each candidate running in single-seat electoral districts, registered and committed to using a campaigning Facebook account. Leaders of the Socialist Party of the Republic of Moldova pay a lot of attention to direct communication between the candidates and the electorate: each candidate must hold at least 100 meetings with the electorate at the campaigning stage.
The party leader also shared with the observers her opinion on the campaigning of the Socialist Party of the Republic of Moldova, noting active participation of the candidates in electoral debates and press-conferences.
The IPA CIS observers made a presentation on their program of short-term monitoring. It traditionally will cover the last stage of the set-up for the elections to the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and the election process, including at “overseas” voting stations.
The IPA CIS observers didn’t receive a reply from the Democratic Party on the proposal to hold a meeting, therefore, it was impossible to attend the campaigning headquarters.
