IPA CIS Observers Visit Election Commissions in Azerbaijan Republic

The IPA CIS observers visited 16 district and around 20 local election commissions in different regions of the Azerbaijan Republic within the framework of the long-term monitoring of the snap elections to the Milli Mejlis.
The observers were familiarized by the representatives of election commissions with the results of the updating of the voters lists and training of the members of the election commissions, methodological materials, the outcomes of the nomination and registration of candidates for MPs and the received complaints. Moreover, the IPA CIS observers were informed on the availability of campaigning platforms, the upcoming meetings with voters and the distribution of campaign materials.
Member of the district election commission № 45 of the Absheron region Tarlan Hajizade informed the IPA CIS observers that a stadium and a culture center had been allocated for the campaigning in the district for the use by candidates free of charge. Tarlan Hajizade also noted that no violations were detected in the work of the election commission, the polling stations were well-prepared and equipped with electric generators to ensure uninterrupted operation in case of a power cut during the voting or vote counting.
During the visits to the election commissions the IPA CIS observers met with the OSCE observers, who were also monitoring the election campaign in the Azerbaijan Republic.
