Ivan Mushket: Law-Making Experience of Uzbekistan Attracts Interest of Politicians and Experts Worldwide

The international conference “New Stage of State Building in the Republic of Uzbekistan, Enhancing the Role of Parliament and Representative Authorities in the Country's Democratic Modernization” is held in Tashkent (Republic of Uzbekistan). The event was co-organized by the Senate and the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the nationwide movement “Yuxalish”.

The conference was aimed at developing proposals and recommendations on the implementation of enhanced mechanisms to provide the effectiveness of parliament and the activity of local representative bodies in the reform process, as well as targeted solutions to the problems of developing education, science, innovation and digital economy.

The event was attended by members of the Senate and the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, representatives of local councils (“kengashs”), ministries and agencies, the judiciary, law enforcement agencies, civil society, the media, as well as heads of diplomatic missions in Uzbekistan, international and regional organizations, leading consulting companies.

On the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly was represented by Deputy Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat, Director of the IIMDD IPA CIS Ivan Mushket. He recalled that a little over a year ago, on 29 November 2018, the Republic of Uzbekistan became a member of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly. “This event opened a new page in the history of this large interparliamentary organization and allowed us to expand the cooperation of national parliaments in a wide range of areas,” said Ivan Mushket.

The IIMDD IPA CIS Director briefed the conference participants on the main activities of the organization and highlighted the work of the IIMDD IPA CIS. “The joint work of the Institute’s staff members and the MPs of the Republic of Uzbekistan during the monitoring of the elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis showed the great potential of our cooperation,” he said. Ivan Mushket also noted that law-making and reform experience of Uzbekistan attracted interest of politicians and experts worldwide.

Ivan Mushket also mentioned that the IIMDD IPA CIS offices successfully operated in Baku (Azerbaijan Republic), Yerevan (Republic of Armenia), Bishkek (Kyrgyz Republic) and Chisinau (Republic of Moldova) and expressed hope that a similar institution will appear in the Republic of Uzbekistan in the nearest future.

At the end of the event, IIMDD IPA CIS Director Ivan Mushket and Deputy Chairman of the Committee of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Judicial Legal Issues and Combating Corruption Shukhrat Chulliyev laid flowers at the monument to the Mourning Mother and the Eternal Flame in Tashkent. 2020 was declared the Year of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War in the countries of the Commonwealth.
