Commonwealth MPs Discussed Draft Laws on Digital Development

Today, the meeting of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Culture, Information, Tourism and Sport took place in the Tavricheskiy Palace – the IPA CIS headquarters.
The event brought together MPs from the IPA CIS Member Nations: the Azerbaijan Republic, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Moldova, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, specialists and experts, IPA CIS Council Secretariat staff members.
The event was opened by Secretary General – Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat Dmitriy Kobitskiy. He presented the candidacy of Head of the Committee of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Science, Education, Culture and Sports Erkin Zakhidov for the post of the Chairman of the Permanent Commission, who was unanimously elected. Member of the Committee of the Milli Mejlis of the Azerbaijan Republic on Labor and Social Policy, Member of the Committee of the Milli Mejlis of the Azerbaijan Republic on Family, Women and Children Affairs Rauf Aliyev was elected the Deputy Chairman of the Permanent Commission.
Among the key issues the MPs discussed the development of the Draft Recommendations on CIS Cooperation in the Field of Digital Development. Senior Researcher of the St. Petersburg Institute for Informatics and Automation of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vladislav Blum delivered a report on the topic.
In addition, the meeting considered the Draft Recommendations on the Establishment of Uniform Approaches to Submitting an Obligatory Electronic Copy of a Printed Publication in the CIS Member Nations. During the discussion, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Culture Elena Drapeko drew attention to the urgent issue of copyright protection in this regard.
Both drafts will be sent to the relevant committees of the parliaments of the IPA CIS Member Nations to obtain expert opinions.
The members of the Permanent Commission discussed the development of the drafts of the revised Model Code of Intellectual Property for the CIS Member Nations and Model Laws on State Support of Cinematography and on Theater and Theatrical Activity.
