More than 120 Thematic Events to be held in Year of Health Protection in CIS

A meeting of an expert group was held in Minsk to finalize and agree on the draft Action Plan for the preparation and holding of the Year of Health Protection in the CIS in 2026. The document will be submitted to the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth.

The meeting was attended by representatives of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, the CIS Executive Committee, as well as Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Social Policy and Human Rights, Executive Secretary of the IPA CIS Expert Advisory Board on Public Health Evgenia Vladimirova and the Assembly’s representative in the CIS Executive Committee Igor Borovko.

The draft Plan includes 10 sections, uniting over 120 activities. These include improvement of the Commonwealth’s regulatory legal framework in the field of healthcare and cooperation with the World Health Organization. A large block of events is dedicated to holding joint conferences, congresses and forums.

The IPA CIS has submitted a proposal for a plan to develop a Model Law on Donation of Blood and Its Components and a Model Law on Radiation Safety in Medicine.

The Assembly also proposed to hold an extended meeting of the IPA CIS Expert Advisory Board on Public Health next year, dedicated to developing national evidence bases for health care of the Commonwealth countries.

The draft document pays special attention to the topic of young professionals: in 2026 it is planned to hold an international competition for young leaders in healthcare and to implement a number of international scientific and educational projects for young researchers from the CIS countries.
