Joint session of IPA CIS PCs on Political Issues and International Cooperation and on Social Policy and Human Rights

The two Commissions met together to finalise the draft text of the Appeal by the IPA CIS Council on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. The Council is expected to appeal to the parliaments and governments of the CIS, PA OSCE, PACE and other international organizations to oppose any attempts at revising historical events, the interpretations of the Second World War and the outcomes of the Nuremberg Trials, as well as to cherish historical memories and legacies. This mission bears special significance against the rise of Nazi ideologies, apologies of Nazi criminals and their henchmen, the spread of bigotry and religious hate, emergence of aggressive nationalism and international terrorism. We are committed to the peaceful pathways of humanity, to diplomatic solutions to all conflicts, to the broader use of parliamentary diplomacy, understanding and common action. We appeal to the unity of action for the sake of peace and wellbeing, says the Appeal.
