IPA CIS Council Chairperson Valentina Matvienko held several meetings in the margins of the IPA CIS Spring Session

Heads of international organizations including interparliamentary assemblies arrived in St. Petersburg to join the Spring Session of the IPA CIS. Many of the respectable participants had bilateral meetings at a high level.
IPA CIS Council Chairperson Valentina Matvienko held a meeting with Chairperson of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Assembly, Speaker of the Parliament of Bangladesh Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury. According to Valentina Matvienko, the IPA CIS is interested in developing cooperation with such a reputable institution as the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association which joins parliamentarians from 56 countries.
According to Chairperson of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Assembly the world is facing new challenges which results in the expanded agenda for cooperation at bilateral and international levels.
The IPA CIS Council Chairperson also held a meeting with Speaker of Majlisi namoyandogon of the Majlisi oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Shukurjon Zukhurov. The parties touched upon prospects for strengthening interparliamentary and interregional cooperation. Valentina Matvienko also appreciated the active work of the parliamentary delegation of Tajikistan in the IPA CIS.
Valentina Matvienko also had a meeting with Speaker of Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ogtay Asadov. The IPA CIS Council Chairperson expressed her confidence in further cooperation both at the bilateral and at the international level.
In the IPA CIS headquarters, Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council Valentina Matvienko, Speaker of the State Duma Sergey Naryshkin and President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Pedro Agramunt discussed prospects of cooperation of the Russian Federation and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
Valentina Matvienko also held a meeting with Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Chynybai Tursunbekov. The IPA CIS Council Chairperson congratulated the speaker on his election and noted that the Russian Federation highly appreciated the participation of the Kyrgyz Republic in the IPA CIS activities. Valentina Matvienko also noted that joining the Eurasian Economic Union was an important step for the Kyrgyz Republic.
