Members of the IPA CIS Council reported on the results of the autumn session

The press conference on the results of the 48th plenary session of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly took place in St. Petersburg in the Tavricheskiy Palace.

Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko noted that during this year 22 MLs were adopted at the IPA CIS plenary sessions.

The IPA CIS Council meeting was attended by representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, World Health Organization, and International Committee of the Red Cross.

The most significant value of the session was the accession of Uzbekistan to the Convention on the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly.

Speaker of the Council of Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich noted that 80% of MLs are reflected in national legislation, including the development of national laws. He also stressed the importance of the established IPA CIS Board of Experts on Economy.

Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kasym-Zhomart Tokaev shared his opinion on the possibility of the participation of the IPA CIS in the implementation of the Chinese "One Belt – One Road" initiative. “I am confident that the promotion of the Belt and Road Initiative will contribute to the harmonization of integration processes in Greater Eurasia”, – he said.

Speaker of the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Makhmadsaid Ubaidulloev reported on the outcomes of the country's presidency in the CIS.

Deputy Speaker of the Milli Mejlis of the Azerbaijan Republic Valeh Aleskerov shared with journalists his impressions of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Milli Majlis.
