Valentina Matvienko met with leaders of Kazakhstan in Astana

IPA CIS Council Chairperson, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko met with President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.
According to Valentina Matvienko, the current visit has the purpose to develop inter-parliamentary ties and strengthen economic, humanitarian, and cultural dimensions of the ongoing cooperation.
Earlier, Valentina Matvienko also met with Speaker of the Senate of the Republic of Kazakhstan to discuss interparliamentary cooperation, cross-regional and border interaction.
According to the IPA CIS Council Chairperson, there is a constructive dialogue at the highest political level. Valentina Matvienko emphasized that the meeting had taken place right after the landmark event for both countries – the 71st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
According to Kassym-Zhomart Tokaev, the delegation’s visit to Kazakhstan in instrumental for the harmonization of laws under the umbrella of the IPA CIS.
After the talks, Valentina Matvienko addressed the members of the Senate of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Valentina Matvienko also met with Speaker of the Majilis of the Republic of Kazakhstan Baktykozha Izmukhambetov. The parties focused on the legislation harmonization in the two countries, developing common information space and the cooperation under the umbrella of the IPA CIS.
