Commission of Principles of Bioethics and Evidence-Based Medicine held Meeting in Astana

On 29 May a regular visiting meeting of the Commission on Development of Principles of Bioethics and Evidence-Based Medicine of the IPA CIS Expert Board on Health was held in Astana.

Chair of the Commission, Head of the Department of Endocrinology of the Belarusian Medical Academy of Post-Graduate Education Larisa Danilova opened the meeting.

Suggestions to develop model legislation in the field  of health protection for the CIS countries were discussed at the meeting.

Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Social Policy and Human Rights, Executive Secretary of the IPA CIS Expert Advisory Board on Public Health Evgenia Vladimirova briefed the members of the Commission with information on the activities of the Assembly on the preparation of model legislative acts in the field of health protection. Evgenia Vladimirova also said that representatives of the Assembly would take part in the work of the International Forum on Investments in Health in Central Asia which is scheduled for 26-27 June 2024 in Bishkek, the Kyrgyz Republic.

Advisor on Pricing and Reimbursement of Medicines and Medical Devices of the World Health Organization Regional Office for Europe Stanislav Knyazkov informed experts on the development of the WHO Model Code for the Provision of Medicines and Medical Devices.

Director of the Center for Regional Economy and Interbudgetary Relations of Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation Pavel Stroev talked about on the preparation of the International Program Development of National Evidence Base in Public Health, Bioethics and Biosafety of the CIS Member Nations”. According to the expert, it is advisable to carry out a financial and economic justification of the project.

Deputy Chair of the Commission, Director of the Eurasian Cooperation on Clinical Guidelines and Development of National Health Sergey Savashinsky informed on the work on the formation of priority directions of the project activities within the framework of the public-private partnership in the field of public health.

The meeting was attended by current members of the IPA CIS Expert Advisory Board on Public Health, representatives of the CIS Executive Committee, the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Association for the Support and Development of Pharmaceutical Activities of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, as well as members of the Board of the Eurasian Cooperation on Clinical Guidelines and Development of National Health.

The members of the Commission supported the suggestion to appeal to the CIS Executive Committee, the IPA CIS and the WHO Regional Office for Europe to include representatives of these organizations in the International Expert Academic Working Group on Development of National Evidence Base in Public Health, Bioethics and Biosafety of the CIS Member Nations.

The next meeting of the Commission is scheduled for November 2024 in Tashkent.
