Asian MPs Support Formation of Multipolar World Order with Civilizational Diversity

A meeting of the Standing Committee of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly on Social and Cultural Affairs was held in Moscow on 26-27 September 2024.
The main topics of the meeting were measures to promote cultural diversity and protect cultural heritage, legal and legislative cooperation in combating smuggling of cultural property and drug trafficking in the Asian region, as well as cooperation in the field of tourism.
During the meeting, an important resolution entitled “Asian Parliamentarians in Support of a More Just Multipolar World Order Reflecting its Cultural and Civilizational Diversity” was adopted for consideration.
The members of the Assembly considered it necessary to expand inter-state and public interaction in the APA area in order to enhance its role in the formation of a multipolar world order.
Head of the Expert and Analytical Department of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat Denis Zhuk and Head of the Department for International Relations of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat, Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Political Issues and International Cooperation Maksimillian Selyutin took part in the work of the Standing Committee on behalf of the IPA CIS.
The delegation of the IPA CIS held a meeting with Secretary General of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly Mohammad Reza Majidi. The parties expressed satisfaction with the level of bilateral relations and decided to continue cooperation in a constructive manner, taking into account the IPA CIS’ observer status at the APA.
The IPA CIS delegation also took part in the ceremony of laying flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Kremlin Wall.
The Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) was established in 2006, its permanent membership includes parliaments of 44 states, including Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India, Indonesia, China, Malaysia, Bangladesh, UAE, Pakistan, Republic of Korea, Saudi Arabia, Turkey. Fourteen countries and 10 international organisations have observer status.
