CIS Parliamentarians Adopted more than 20 Documents

At today’s 57th plenary session of the IPA CIS, a number of laws were adopted in the field of ecology, education and the implementation of the activities of local governments. Thus, the total number of Model Laws and other documents developed by the IPA CIS exceeded 700.
The meeting was attended by the CIS parliamentary delegations headed by: Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council Valentina Matvienko, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Ruben Rubinyan, Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev, Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurlanbek Shakiev, Speaker of the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Rustami Emomali, Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva. The event was also attended by Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy and Secretary General of the CIS Sergey Lebedev.
Among the documents adopted by the Assembly today are Recommendations on Use of Effective Forms of Dialog Between Citizens and Local Authorities, Model Laws on Environmental Monitoring, on Electronic Communications in the Environment of Digital Media Resources, on Viticulture and Winemaking, on Trust Funds to Support Scientific, Technical and Innovative Activities and others.
Model Laws and Recommendations will be sent to the parliaments of the IPA CIS Member Nations for implementation into national legislation.
Valentina Matvienko informed the meeting participants about the most important document adopted yesterday by the heads of parliamentary delegations - the Addresseal of the IPA CIS Council in connection with the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. “On the eve of the anniversary, we call on the states of the world, international organizations and the world community to consider the Victory celebration as an important historical moment for establishing an atmosphere of mutual understanding and cooperation in international relations, we advocate conflict resolution by peaceful means and the use of parliamentary diplomacy,” - the Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council stressed.
She also said that the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, the Central American Parliament, as well as the International Committee of the Red Cross received observer status at the IPA CIS. “I think, given the interest shown by other organizations in our work, we should strongly support such steps to strengthen international cooperation,” - the speaker said.
Valentina Matvienko noted that the IPA CIS has done serious, useful, productive work, full of bright and interesting events.
The main topic of the meeting was the role of the International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of the IPA CIS Member Nations in the development of democracy and the protection of state sovereignty of the CIS countries.
The IPA CIS Chingiz Aitmatov Prize was presented at the plenary session. It was awarded to Azerbaijani director, artistic director of the Azerbaijan State Academic National Drama Theater, writer-journalist, director and Honored Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Alekperzada.
The ceremony of awarding other prizes of the IPA CIS was also held.
