Countering Extremism and Terrorism Discussed at Meeting of Research Advisory Board at CIS ATC

On 4 May, Moscow hosted an extended plenary session of the Research Advisory Board at the CIS Anti-Terrorism Centre (CIS ATC). The experts discussed topical issues in the field of countering terrorism and extremism in the CIS.
The participants exchanged views on the legal regulation, in particular, the harmonization of the legislation of the Commonwealth countries in the field of countering terrorism and extremism.
They considered the issues of preventing terrorist and extremist crimes among the CIS youth and discussed measures to counter the spread of the ideology of terrorism and extremism on the Internet, including outreach and recruitment activities.
The plenary session also discussed the use of artificial intelligence by extremist organizations and the use of modern technologies to combat terrorism.
Member of the Board, Secretary of the Joint Commission at the IPA CIS for the Harmonization of National Laws Related to Security, Countering Emerging Threats and Challenges Stanislav Korostelev presented a report “Some Political and Legal Aspects of the Discussion on the Use of Autonomous (Robotic) Weapons.”
The event was attended by the representatives of the security and intelligence agencies of the Commonwealth countries, CIS statutory and sectoral cooperation bodies, international organizations and universities.
