Development of Model Legislation in Field of Social Services Supported at Relevant Conference

On 22 September 2022, an international conference on the development of social services, including the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities, took place via videoconferencing.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event was attended by representatives of public authorities in the social and labor fields of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, the IPA CIS, the Eurasian Economic Commission, the Interstate Statistical Committee, the General Confederation of Trade Unions, Vitebsk State University named after P. M. Masherov, as well as representatives of other relevant public authorities and CIS organizations in the field of healthcare and education. Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Social Policy and Human Rights, Executive Secretary of the IPA CIS Expert Advisory Board on Public Health Evgenia Vladimirova represented the IPA CIS at the event.

The Conference discussed new methods and approaches in the social service systems of the CIS countries, issues of rehabilitation and observance of the rights of persons with disabilities, as well as topical issues in the development of the social service system in the Commonwealth, innovative approaches to the provision of social services and social inclusion. The participants exchanged experience in addressing practical issues and introducing best practices in matters of medical, social rehabilitation and habilitation of persons with disabilities. The Conference also discussed modern trends in medical and social expertise, practical issues of data collection and prospects for the development of disability statistics, national education models and training of children with developmental disorders.

At the end of the event, the Conference adopted the Resolution on the Development of Social Services, Including the Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities.
