Dmitriy Kobitskiy Met with President of International Committee of Red Cross Mirjana Spoljaric Egger

Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy and President of the International Committee of the Red Cross Mirjana Spoljaric Egger met on the sidelines of the Fourth Eurasian Women’s Forum at the Tavricheskiy Palace.

The parties discussed the interaction of organizations and prospects for cooperation.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Head of the Secretariat of the IPA CIS Council Alexey Dolzhikov, Head of the Regional Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus Boris Michel, Head of the ICRC’s Humanitarian Affairs Department Ruth Hetherington, Head of the Expert and Analytical Department of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat Denis Zhuk, Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Social Policy and Human Rights, Executive Secretary of the IPA CIS Expert Advisory Board on Public Health Evgenia Vladimirova.

The Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council noted that effective cooperation between the ICRC and the IPA CIS on the basis of the agreement signed 20 years ago continues to develop. Dmitriy Kobitskiy emphasised gratitude for the ICRC's expert opinion on the development of model laws, expressed hope for further cooperation and expressed pleasure at seeing the ICRC representatives at the IPA CIS events.

A number of documents in the field of international humanitarian law have been issued by the IPA CIS with the expert support of the ICRC. In addition, the organizations jointly prepared and held a number of conferences and other events.

Miryana Spolyaric-Egger underlined the importance of working with MPs and noted the effectiveness of the dialogue at the IPA CIS.  The President of the ICRC spoke about the Concept of the Travel emergency document, which is being developed by the Committee of the Red Cross — it provides the opportunity to render a special certificate to people who do not have other documents and find themselves in difficult life circumstances in areas of emergency situations, humanitarian disasters, military conflicts.

At the meeting, it was decided that the Concept will be presented in October 2024 at a session of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Social Policy and Human Rights.
