Photo Exhibition on Uzbekistan’s Contribution to Liberation of Leningrad Kicked off

On 17 September, the State Memorial Museum of Defense and Siege named after Marshal L.A. Govorov hosted the opening of the photo exhibition “Uzbekistan’s Contribution to the Liberation of Leningrad” from the materials of the Uzarkhiv Agency. The event is timed to the 80th anniversary of the city’s complete liberation from the Nazi blockade.
The exhibition tells about the role of the republic in bringing the common Victory closer, contains visual information about Uzbeks who defended Leningrad, as well as about the residents of the besieged city evacuated to Uzbekistan.
Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Culture, Information, Tourism and Sport Igor Minin and Head of the Department for International Relations of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat, Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Political Issues and International Cooperation Maksimillian Selyutin took part in the opening ceremony on behalf of the Secretariat of the IPA CIS Council.
They held meetings with Director of the Centre for Public Diplomacy of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in the Republic of Uzbekistan Kabuljon Sabirov, Consul General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in St. Petersburg Abdurakhmon Makhmudov, Head of the Committee on Local Self-Government, Interethnic and Interfaith Relations of the Leningrad Region Sergei Novozhilov, as well as a conversation with an expert of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Culture, Information, Tourism and Sport Ravshanbek Kurbanov.
