CIS Interparliamentary Assembly Cancels Spring Session Due to Coronavirus Pandemic

The Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States cancels the international events scheduled for April 2020 including the IPA CIS Council meeting, the 51th IPA CIS Plenary Session and the IPA CIS Commemorative Session Dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945. The meetings of the IPA CIS Permanent Commissions and the Youth Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States were also canceled.

The decision on cancellation was made due to the high epidemiological risks, multiple restrictions on travels at the national levels and in the light of the relevant recommendations of the United Nations and the World Health Organization.

Nevertheless, the work of the IPA CIS in model lawmaking and other areas continues through the use of modern information technologies: organization of online discussions, videoconferencing, etc.

The international events at the IPA CIS headquarters will resume as soon as the threat of the coronavirus contagion in the Commonwealth countries is eliminated.
