External border security discussed in Minsk

The session of the working group to improve and coordinate the CIS External Border Security Improvement Cooperation Program and the related Decision of the Council of Heads of State took place in Minsk on 9-10 September.
IPA CIS was represented at the session. The CIS Execom press-service reports that the Program addresses new and emerging security threats in the region. The document covers the period from 2016 till 2020 and contains a plan of work to enhance security cooperation, funding and supervision frameworks. Its overarching objective is to counter trans-border crime along the external perimeter of the Commonwealth.
