Dmitriy Kobitskiy Noted Importance of Parliamentary Cooperation on Counter-Terrorism

Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy takes part in the Parliamentary Policy Dialogue on Border Security and Cross Border Cooperation in the Context of Counter-Terrorism in Doha. Yesterday, the Third Counter-Terrorism Coordination Meeting of Parliamentary Assemblies was held in the capital of the State of Qatar.
The Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat noted in an interview to journalists of the United Nations TV channel, the great importance of the joint work of the parliamentary assemblies to strengthen international cooperation mechanisms in countering terrorism and extremism, increase the responsiveness to new threats and improve legislative support of security.
The IPA CIS Council Secretary General emphasized that the organization not only carries out very serious work on drafting legal acts in this field – about 120 documents have been adopted over 30 years, including in terms of border protection – but also attaches great importance to holding congress events, aimed at countering terrorism. “Every two years a counter-terrorist conference is held in St. Petersburg, at the IPA CIS headquarters. This important work is carried out together with the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism, the security agencies of the Commonwealth countries, the OSCE PA and other international organizations,” Dmitry Kobitskiy said. He informed that the preparations for the next counter-terrorism conference scheduled for 13-14 April 2023 are under way.
