Tavricheskiy Palace Hosts International Conference on Migration Policy at Present Stage

Today, the international conference “Migration Processes: Features of Migration Policy at Present Stage” will kicked off in the Tavricheskiy Palace – the IPA CIS headquarters. The event is held within the framework of the VI St. Petersburg International Labour Forum, co-organized by the IPA CIS.

Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy welcomed the participants of the conference, emphasizing that the IPA CIS headquarters had become a platform for discussing topical issues in the field policy-making and legislative regulation of migration processes. He recalled that the discussion of the Model Labor and Migration Codes adopted by the IPA CIS also began within the framework of the Labour Forum.

The participants of the plenary session focused on the development of skilled labor migration, organized recruitment, the creation of the infrastructure for vocational training, the compliance of professions and qualifications of labor migrants with the requirements of the labor market. Experts also presented reports on the use of digital platforms for organizational and legal support of labor migration participants.

Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration in Moscow Abdusattor Esoev noted that the conference was an excellent platform for fair and open exchange of views on the most pressing issues in the field of migration. He shared with colleagues the experience of the IOM Mission in Moscow in this area and offered support in the field of organized recruitment and digitalization of labor migration.  

Dmitriy Kobitskiy highly appreciated the long-standing partnership relations between the IPA CIS and the Mission and presented Abdusattor Esoev with a certificate of honor for his contribution to the development and harmonization of the legislations of the CIS Member Nations and long-term fruitful cooperation with the IPA CIS Council Secretariat.

The plenary session was followed by the panel discussions “Migration and Emergencies: the Need to Maintain the Mobility of Demanded Labour Migration” and “Development of Skilled Labour Migration and Organized Recruitment: Creation of the Infrastructure for the Vocational Training of Candidates in Accordance with the Requirements of the Labour Market”.
