10th Forum of Russian and Belarusian Regions Kicked off

From 26 to 28 June 2023, Ufa hosts the 10th Anniversary Forum of Russian and Belarusian Regions. The business program of the event is dedicated to the prospective development of cooperation between the two countries.

The plenary session of the forum was chaired by Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko and Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Natalya Kochanova.

Video messages by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko were addressed to the participants and guests of the forum.

Within the framework of the Forum, Valentina Matvienko and Natalya Kochanova opened an exhibition of achievements of the national economy of Russia and Belarus regions. They also met with the participants of the patriotic, cultural and educational project “Memory Train”.

Within the framework of the Forum, the work of the section “The Unified Legal System of the Union State: the current state and prospective development trends” was organized, moderated by Chair of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on Legislation and State Building, Deputy Chair of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Legal Issues Sergey Sivets and First Deputy Chair of the Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Constitutional Legislation and State Building Vladimir Poletayev.

Head of the Expert and Analytical Directorate of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat Denis Zhuk delivered a report on “Interregional and Cross-border Cooperation: Prospects of Development and Legal Support”.

The Forum of Russian and Belarusian Regions has been held annually since 2014 under the patronage of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus. Forum participants and speakers include representatives of federal and regional public authorities, leading businesses and organizations, business communities and academia.
