Azerbaijan Republic Celebrates Constitution Day

Today, the Azerbaijan Republic celebrates a state holiday – Constitution Day.

On 12 November 1995, the Constitution of Azerbaijan, the basic law of the independent sovereign state, was adopted by national referendum.

The Constitution laid the foundations of nation-building of the Azerbaijan Republic. The first amendments and additions were made on 24 August 2002, on 18 March 2009 and then on 26 September 2016.

On 6 February 1996, 12 November was declared Constitution Day by order of President Heydar Aliyev.
