Chairs of Parliaments of Commonwealth Conducted Bilateral Meetings in St. Petersburg

Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council Valentina Matvienko met Speaker of Milli Majlis of the Azerbaijan Republic Sahiba Gafarova. The meeting was conducted in the headquarters of the IPA CIS –the Tavricheskiy Palace, where on 12 of July the session of the IPA CIS was held.
Valentina Matvienko discussed perspectives of parliamentary cooperation in various formats with Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Natalya Kochanova.
Valentina Matvienko and Chair of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev stressed the effectiveness of the dialogue on the MPs level.
The main topic of the meeting between Valentina Matvienko and Chair of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva was strengthening parliamentary cooperation.
Moreover, the meeting between Chair of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev and Chair of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurlanbek Shakiev was also held.
On 11-12 July, Chairs of the Commonwealth parliaments participated in X BRICS Parliamentary Forum. Plenary sessions in extended format within participation of Heads of legislative branches of the CIS were conducted in headquarters of the IPA CIS.
