Electoral Campaign for Mazhilis Kicks Off in Republic of Kazakhstan

Today, The meeting of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan took place. It was attended by the representatives of the political parties; territorial election commissions of the regions and cities of Nur-Sultan, Almaty and Shymkent joined the meeting via videoconferencing; the media representatives had online access.

Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan Berik Imashev opened the meeting and told that in accordance with the Decree of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kasym-Jomart Tokayev, the electoral campaign for the Mazhilis kicked off that day.

Berik Imashev reminded that the constitutional mandate of members of the Mazhilis elected on 20 March 2016 expired in March 2021. In accordance with the legislation, the regular elections to the Mazhilis are called by the President no less than five months and held no less than two months before the end of the mandate. The current electoral campaign is held in strict accordance with the constitutional terms.
