IPA CIS Observers to Monitor Parliamentary Elections in Tajikistan

A letter signed by the heads of both chambers of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, Rustami Emomali and Mahmadtoir Zokirzoda, has been addressed to Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council Valentina Matvienko

It contains an invitation to the IPA CIS international observers to take part in monitoring the elections of members of the new convocation of Majlisi namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, which will be held on 2 March 2025.

The IPA CIS Council Secretariat will start to form a monitoring group, which will include representatives of the parliaments of the Assembly’s Member Nations, staff members of the IPA CIS and experts of the International Institute for Monitoring the Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS IIMDD).

The Majlisi namoyandagon consists of 63 members. Elections are held by secret ballot on the basis of universal, equal and direct suffrage. 22 representatives are elected by proportional system, 41 - by single-mandate constituencies.
