Mazhilis of Parliament of Republic of Kazakhstan Approves Number of Ratification Laws

The plenary session of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan took place today chaired by Speaker of the Chamber Nurlan Nigmatulin, where the MPs approved a number of ratification draft laws.

Among the approved documents is the Agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic on Cooperation in the Field of Migration. According to the document, the parties cooperate in the field of migration, protection of the rights of citizens of the state of one party residing on the territory of the other one, including in the form of information exchange, in accordance with the domestic laws and international obligations of their states.

Another ratification law approved by the MPs is the Agreement on Specifics of Operations with Precious Metals and Stones within the Framework of the Eurasian Economic Union. According to the Agreement, while carrying out operations with precious metals, unprocessed precious stones, unique nuggets and nuggets not subject to refining, the contract prices are set in accordance with the domestic legislation of the Member Nations. At the same time, the MPs also raised the issue of harmonizing legislation in terms of liability for illegal traffic of precious metals, stones and products within the EAEU. Speaker of the Mazhilis Nurlan Nigmatulin noted that in Kazakhstan illegal trafficking of precious metals and stones is decriminalized, while in Russia and Belarus, for example, criminal liability is provided for such offenses.
