On 18 November, the first session of the Legislative Chamber of the new convocation of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held.

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev addressed the session.

The head of state emphasized that the elections had been held in an atmosphere of openness and transparency, with the use of modern technologies. The process was monitored by 13 international organizations, including the IPA CIS. The composition of the Legislative Chamber was renewed by almost 60%, 87 new members were elected.

Chair of the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan Zainiddin Nizamkhodjaev noted that for the first time in the history of Uzbekistan, elections had been held on the basis of mixed majoritarian and proportional electoral systems. This had allowed to strengthen competition between political parties and had given a new impetus to the democratic environment in society.

On the proposal of the Council of Representatives of Political Parties, the deputies elected Nuriddin Ismailov to the post of Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Mavlyuda Khodjaeva and Rakhimjon Hakimov became Deputy Speakers.
