Parliament of Republic of Belarus Held First Meetings of Eighth Session

On 15 March 2022, the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus of the seventh convocation began its eighth session in accordance with Articles 95 and 141 of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus (amended by the Decision of the Republican Referendum on 27 February 2022).
According to the head of the chamber, Vladimir Andreichenko, today the MPs should focus on systematic work to bring legislation into line with the Constitution.
During the first meeting, the MPs, among the main issues, discussed and adopted the draft Law on Ratification of the Protocol on Amendments to the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Russian Federation on the Procedure for Setting Prices (Tariffs) for the Supply of Natural Gas to the Republic of Belarus and its Transportation through Gas Pipelines Located in the Territory of the Republic of Belarus of 25 November 2011.
On the same day, the draft Law was approved by the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, which also held its first meeting of the eighth session today. Speaker of the chamber Natalya Kochanova said that the MPs not only opened the eighth session of the Council of the Republic, but also started a new stage in the development of Belarusian state building and national parliamentarism.
