Republic of Belarus and Russian Federation Celebrate Unity Day of Peoples

On 2 April 1996, the presidents of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation signed the Treaty on the Formation of the Community of Russia and Belarus. The same day dates the Treaty on the Union of Belarus and Russia signed in 1997.
The two states organize large-scale joint projects, cooperate in the field of foreign policy, in various branches of economy, science and education.
Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Natalia Kochanova expressed confidence that the accumulated experience and concerted actions of the MPs of Belarus and Russia would contribute to the further establishment and strengthening of the Union State of Belarus and Russia.
Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council Valentina Matvienko noted that relations of trust between the countries had long been tested for strength, had helped to cope with hard trials, and had become a pledge of dynamic development of the two states.
