Republic of Tajikistan Celebrates National Flag Day
24 November 2023
The flag consists of three colours: the red stripe symbolizes freedom and independence, the white one stands for peace and tranquillity, and the green one means prosperity. The crown with hemicycle of seven stars is located in the middle, symbolizing the seven historic and cultural centers of Tajikistan.
The State Flag was adopted as the first symbol of the independent Republic of Tajikistan on 24 November 1992 at the XVI session of the Supreme Soviet of the Republic. In honour of this symbol, on 20 November 2009 the President of the country declared 24 November as the Day of the State Flag of the Republic of Tajikistan.
In autumn 2011, the national symbol of the Republic of Tajikistan was included in the Guinness Book of Records with the highest 165 m flagpole in the world established in the capital of the Republic Dushanbe. The record lasted till September 2014.
