Russian MPs Considered More Than 350 Laws in Spring Session

Today, the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation gathered for the last meeting of the spring session. Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko reported that more than 350 laws had been considered during 13 sessions of the chamber since the beginning of the year.

Summing up the results of MPs work in the spring session, Valentina Matvienko stressed that the Federation Council had proved again that it was a chamber of concrete actions, a reliable defender of regional interests.

The Speaker of the chamber underlined that unprecedented sanctions failed to shake the Russian economy and financial system. She noted positive dynamics in such key fields as construction and agriculture, stable situation in the labor market, control over inflation.

According to Valentina Matvienko, during the session, the Federation Council held a systemic analysis of the infrastructure of children’s recreation – considering these data, proposals were prepared for a federal program on restoration and construction of recreation facilities for children, which will start next year.

Earlier, the results of the spring session also summed up in the lower chamber of the Russian parliament. Speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin noted that 35,2% of the laws adopted by the chamber in the spring session are socially significant.

According to Vyacheslav Volodin, 1203 legislative initiatives remained under consideration.

The first plenary session of the State Duma is scheduled for 13 September. Import substitution issues will become one of the MPs priorities during the autumn session.
