Senate of Oliy Majlis of Republic of Uzbekistan Adopted Law on Rights of People with Disabilities

The seventh plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted the Law on Rights of People with Disabilities. The law provides for the equal opportunities in all spheres of life and elimination of discrimination on the basis of disability.

The law also guarantees the respect for the evolving capacities of children with disabilities and their right to preserve their individuality, as well and the introduction of inclusive education in all institutions. The document also features the establishment of infrastructure and services for the people with disabilities.

The draft law regulates the right of such people to housing, including the access to special programs of housing construction, concessional conditions of land acquisition, as well as their right to information, including using the technologies for various types of disabilities.
