Speakers of Oliy Majlis of Republic of Uzbekistan Participated in Inter-Parliamentary Forum on Human Rights

The International Parliamentary Forum “Role of Parliaments in Implementation of the UN Charter and Treaty Bodies Recommendations: the UN Human Rights Council and the UN Human Rights Committee Case Studies” was held on 10 June.

The event was co-organized by the Legislative Chamber and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and the IPU, the OHCHR, the UN Permanent Mission in Uzbekistan and the National Center for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Foreign participants noted the activities of the Parliament of Uzbekistan in observing quarantine measures, as well as its increasing role in the protection of human rights and interests.

Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva spoke about the reforms carried out in this area, as well as the organization of the reporting system and training of the senators and members of local kengashes.

Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nurdinjon Ismoilov noted that the country’s legal framework was improving.
