Speakers of Russian Parliament Discussed Cooperation Issues with Armenia’s Prime Minister

On 20 April 2022, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan met with the Speakers of both chambers of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation in Moscow. The parties discussed the development of cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting with the Armenia’s Prime Minister, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council Valentina Matvienko called parliamentary interaction one of the key elements of interstate relations. She noted the active dialogue between the legislators of the two countries and effectiveness of the coordination of parliamentary efforts at international venues, including at the IPA CIS. In turn, Nikol Pashinyan stated that interstate, inter-parliamentary and interpersonal relations between Russia and Armenia created a basis for further development of cooperation.
On the same day, Nikol Pashinyan met with Speaker of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin. During the meeting, the Speaker of the State Duma noted the active cooperation between Russia and Armenia within the framework of the parliamentary dimension. The Armenian Prime Minister expressed the opinion that such communication would give a new impetus to bilateral relations.
