Valentina Matvienko Met With Igor Grosu

Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council Valentina Matvienko and Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova Igor Grosu held a meeting on the margins of the European Conference of the Presidents of Parliament taking place in Athens.
The parties stressed the focus on the continuation of inter-parliamentary cooperation based on the principles of mutual consideration of interests.
According to Valentina Matvienko, the resumption of the work of the Russian-Moldovan Interparliamentary Commission on Cooperation and Interaction of Parliamentarians of the two countries within international parliamentary platforms, including the IPA CIS could serve as an effective tool for the implementation of these plans.
The Speaker of the Federation Council also noted the active participation of the Moldovan parliamentary delegation headed by Zinaida Greceanîi in the events of the Third Eurasian Women’s Forum held in St. Petersburg in October.
Igor Grosu, who initiated the meeting, thanked the Russian side for a constructive approach to discussing the issues of bilateral relations and humanitarian assistance provided in the field of vaccination of the population. He noted the interest in stepping up the dialogue through the parliamentary dimension.
