Armenia celebrates the First Republic Day

Armenia is celebrating the Independence Day today. On 28 May 1918 the Armenian National Council in Tiflis declared the independence of Armenia making Yerevan its capital. This was the moment when the First Republic of Armenia appeared on maps. The independent Armenian state existed until 2 December 1920.

Nowadays 28 May is a national holiday in the Republic of Armenia.
