Cross Year of Russian Federation and Kyrgyz Republic Officially Launched

In Moscow, the Grand Hall of the Kremlin Palace provided a venue for the opening ceremony of the Year of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Russian Federation and the Year of the Russian Federation in the Kyrgyz Republic, which became the first cross year of Russia with a CIS Member Nation in the last 13 years. The event was attended by Presidents of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation Sooronbay Jeenbekov and Vladimir Putin, as well as politicians and public figures of both countries.

On the same day, a delegation of parliamentarians of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic met with colleagues from the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. Members of the Jogorku Kenesh Marat Amankulov, Kanatbek Isaev, Talant Mamytov, Gulnara-Klara Samat, Evgenia Strokova, Baktybek Turusbekov, Tynchtyk Shainazarov, as well as Deputy Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council – Plenipotentiary Representative of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurbek Satvaldiev discussed the relationships with representatives of the Lower Chamber of the Russian Parliament Viktor Zavarzin and Leonid Kalashnikov.

The Cross Year’s program includes more than 200 events to be held in the Russian Federation and the Kyrgyz Republic.

The Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States makes a significant contribution to the development of interaction between the two countries. In the framework of the Interparliamentary Commission for cooperation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation with the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, parliamentarians consider issues of economic, cultural and humanitarian partnership, as well as exchange their views on the current status and development prospects of interregional relations of the subjects of the Russian Federation with the Kyrgyz Republic and its administrative and territorial entities.

The Tavricheskiy Palace, the headquarters of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, regularly becomes a platform for the representatives of the public authorities of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation to discuss issues on the bilateral agenda.

The CIS Interparliamentary Assembly has assisted to implement many international initiatives of the Kyrgyz Republic, such as the annual international basketball tournament for young men “Victory Cup” in Bishkek and the annual International Cultural and Educational Forum of the CIS countries “Children of the Commonwealth” on Issyk-Kul Lake.

Deputy Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council – Plenipotentiary Representative of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurbek Satvaldiev participated actively in the organization of most of these events. According to him, the Cross Year will allow to enhance further interaction between both countries in various fields.
