IPA CIS Chairperson met with Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus

In the margins of the third Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Russia in Minsk, Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko met with Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich.

The parties made a particular emphasis on the development of parliamentary ties and noted the high quality of the inter-parliamentary engagement. "There is an ongoing exchange of law-making practices, harmonization of legislation of our countries and the emerging legal tools to meet commitments made at the levels of heads of state and government", said Valentina Matvienko. She added that regular contacts of parliaments contributed to the high-level dialogue.

Other issues covered at the meeting included the development of integration processes in the post-Soviet territory and the cooperation of various integrative bodies. Valentina Matvienko stressed that the resolution of the "conflict of integrations" lies within common efforts aimed at future building a common economic and humanitarian space supported by equal and undivided security.
