Vladimir Putin met with members of the Council of Legislators of the Russian Federation in the Tavricheskiy Palace

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin met with members of the Council of Legislators at the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. The meeting took place in the Tavricheskiy Palace, the headquarters of the IPA CIS.

The meeting was attended by Speaker of the Federation Council, Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council Valentina Matvienko, Speaker of the State Duma Sergey Naryshkin, members of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairs of Parliamentary Committees, Senators, Members of the State Duma, members of legislative assemblies of the Russian regions.

Vladimir Putin congratulated the legislators on the 110th anniversary of the Russian parliamentarism. He emphasized that in recent 25 years the role of legislative bodies had grown significantly: the Federation Council, the State Duma, legislative assemblies of Russian regions had formed the people's representation framework.

Valentina Matvienko thanked the President for his attention to the efforts of the Council of Legislators. Speaker of the Federation Council also noted that with the Council of Legislators all levels of the legislative power had become more coherent. According to the Speaker, the original parliamentary traditions were extended to the present work of the Federation Council.

Valentina Matvienko also informed Vladimir Putin about the agenda of the Council of Legislators session and about the main issues that had been discussed.

Sergey Naryshkin mentioned that the notable day of the 27th of April 110 years ago when the first session of the State Duma of the Russian Empire took place in the Tavricheskiy Palace. Even after such a long time one can witness the continuity in the work of today’s State Duma of the Russian Federation.
