150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Kicked off in Tashkent

Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy is taking part in the work of the Assembly.
The opening ceremony of the Assembly was held in the Congress Hall of the International Business Center “Tashkent City”.
The central theme of the jubilee Assembly was “The Parliamentary Movement for Social Development and Justice.”
The opening ceremony was attended by Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nuriddin Ismailov, President of the IPU Tulia Ackson, Secretary General of the IPU Martin Chungong and others.
Delegations from 190 countries, 15 observer states and more than 25 international and inter-parliamentary organizations arrived in Tashkent to participate in the Assembly.
Within the framework of the Assembly, almost 90 events are organized aimed at increasing the participation and activity of parliaments in achieving social progress and building a just society.
The Jubilee Assembly is being held for the first time in Central Asia, in Uzbekistan. The republic joined the IPU at the 137th Assembly, which was held at the IPA CIS headquarters in St. Petersburg in 2017.
The Inter-Parliamentary Union is the oldest association of legislators, uniting the parliaments of 181 countries. This year, 190 countries are participating in the Assembly.
