Experts in Field of Tourism Discussed Preparation of Travel Hub “Commonwealth”

On 1-2 October 2021, a meeting of the CIS Advisory Board on Tourism was held in Yerevan (Republic of Armenia). The event was attended by representatives of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, Turkmenistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the CIS Executive Committee.
The IPA CIS Council Secretariat was represented at the meeting by Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Agrarian Policy, Natural Resources and Ecology Natalia Amburtseva and Director of the Tavricheskaya Hotel Alexander Artyomov.
Natalia Amburtseva made a presentation on the use of the Model Law on Ecotourism in the national legislations of the CIS Member Nations. She stressed that the Model Law would contribute to the improvement of national legislation and facilitate cooperation in the field of ecological tourism.
Alexander Artyomov presented information about the Travel Hub “Commonwealth” project to be held at the Tavricheskiy Palace on 10-11 November 2021. The event will be attended by representatives of public authorities, non-profit organizations and businesses. This project will consider the prospects for the integration of the CIS Member Nations into a single tourism space, the opportunities for tourism development in the context of the pandemic and new trends that emerged in the industry in 2021.
The representatives also were briefed on the state policy of the Republic of Armenia in the field of tourism and the experience of developing agroecotourism in the Republic of Belarus. In addition, the meeting participants discussed the activities of the Working Group on Addressing the Challenges in the Tourism Area at the Advisory Board on Tourism and reviewed the progress of implementation of the Action Plan for 2021–2023 of the Strategy for the Development of Cooperation in the Field of Tourism.
The participants also considered the information on the progress in drafting of the Provisions on the Basic Organization of the CIS Member Nations in the Field of Tourism and the Decision of the Council of Foreign Ministers.
The next meeting of the Advisory Board on Tourism is scheduled to be held in 2022 in Belarus.
