Informal Meeting of CIS Leaders Takes Place in St. Petersburg

On 28 December 2021, a traditional informal meeting of the leaders of the CIS Member Nations,  takes place in St. Petersburg upon the initiative of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

The event is attended by President of the Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Opening the meeting, Vladimir Putin congratulated his colleagues on the 30th anniversary of the CIS and noted that the establishment of the organization had been certainly justified and integration in many areas had deepened in various aspects. Vladimir Putin also noted that good relations between the CIS countries made it possible to pass through the difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic. He stressed that the Russian Federation intended to maintain these relations in the future.
